Ireland did it.

The Netherlands nearly did it! But it was Kevin O'Brien and his fellow batsmen who bludgeoned the English attack on wednesday! Every cricket world cup event has witnessed an upset  - in 2003 it was the Kenyans, In 2007 it was the Bangladeshis and in 2011 its the Poterfield led Irishmen. The so called English cricket team is mearly a shadow of the team that once reached the finals of world cup. There are no Gooch's, no Hick's, no Gower's, no Willis's. Still the english captain believes, his team is enterprising and stands a good chance to win the cup. i strongly believe, the english team badly needs genuine match winning players. They have ofcourse, their captain, Strauss as a leader and match winner, but he himself is a contracted player. They have good batsmen, who can hit the ball out of the park in crunch times, as we saw in the match against the "mighty" Indians, they lack wicket taking seamers. Harmison who retired from the international arena was their ace bowler. Jimmy anderson is ridiculously unpredictable. He is unplayable sporadically, but most of the times he is too expensive. Strauss, after the match against Indians, said he was not happy about the tie. But he should not forget that his bowlers contributed much to the Indians crossing 300. Nevertheless, the English were able to tie the match just because of the week Indian bowling. With their opening bowler being Munaf, the other teams will wish more than 80 runs in the first 10 overs playing against them. Whatever he does on the field, Dhoni must persist with Sreesanth. He can be expensive at times, as we all witnessed his heroics against Bangladeshis, but he can take wickets. Also, the fastest 100's in this world cup have been scored against Bangladesh, Windies, Canada and our own India. This clearly shows how lacklusture their bowling are.
With this kind of attack, England and India may reach the Quarters, but from thereon they will experience fierce batting from their opponents due to thier bowlers. So come on Teams...Bowling is what that make you champs!!!

All Protest No Use!!!

Different unions under F H S T A are ready for revolting...but i feel it will be in vain after reading todays "Mathrubhumi" daily. The government have stated that they will ratify the report first and then consider the anomalies pointed out by different organisations and unions...Once they ratify the report, i feel, there is no chance of a ROLL BACK!!!

HSST's Fooled By Pay Revision Commission.

For all the Higher secondary school teachers in Kerala, April Fool Day came a little bit earlier, when the Justice Rajendrababu Commission on Pay Revision of Employees was unveiled. Barring the Basic pay scale that starts from Rs.20740 and fixing the lower end of the HSST scale to Rs.19240, the hidden agenda of some service unions have come into light. Average total benefits comes to not more than Rs.3000. We expected the service unions to raise voice against this anomaly, but they have remained more or less silent. This shows that they are not interested towards higher secondary, but rather zero in on high school and LP/UP teachers. Making the basic Rs.19240, one may suspect, is an attempt to strip off the "Gazetted" rank off the HSS teachers.
Here are two different responses from two service union members- very interesting
1. "The promotion to HM cadre happens only after, say 24 or 25 years of HSA service. So they deserve more than HSST's the Scale of Rs.20740." - I agree. But why our salary is fixed at a lower scale? All previous pay revisions had both scales fixed at the same amount. May be a "Gazetted" group among the teaching staff is not okay for some people.
2. "All other posts having the scale Rs.20740 are posts having "Authority". They mean jobs with heads of offices sort profile. Suppose in an Govt. Ayurveda Hospital, there are 5 Medical Officers. All of them are not "Heads of offices" Also when there is no regular Principal, the HSSTs are the ones upon which the Full Additional Charge is vested upon.
One thing is clear. When the commission had the interview with the unions and the directorate, neither of them   had spoken about this anomaly....
